The Straight of Georgia
In Vancouver for a conference and spent Sunday walking along the coast. Sat for a time reading a book of Adrian Henri poems, including my favourite 'The Entry of Christ Into Liverpool'. It was an interesting example of physically being somewhere but the head being some place entirely different. Scandalously, in a world where we think everything is available through the Internet, the text of the poem appears not to be available. Henri was a great live performer and had a band The Liverpool Scene that turned poetry to sound performance. Couldn't find this either except as a torrent. I did find this brilliant quote from Allan Ginsberg on the Liverpool poets which made my day:
“Liverpool is at the present moment the centre of the consciousness of the human universe”. That's poets for you.
